Hemophilia is an example of?

Hemophilia is an example of:

a an abnormal inheritance pattern

b a sex-linked genetic disorder

c an absence of the dystrophin gene

d a recessive allele on the Y chromosome

Hemophilia is an example of?
It is definetly, " B- A sex-linked genetic disorder."

Because males are XY and Females are XX, it's more prevalent in males. It's a recessive gene on the X chromosome and if a male inherits an X chromosome with this recessive gene then it will show as his phenotype because there is no other X chromosome to dominate. Whereas if a female had one X chromosome with this gene and the other X chromosome without it, she will only be a carrier of the gene and is able to pass it on to her offspring. If a female was homozygous recessive for hemophilia, then it was show as a phenotype.

Males are only able to get this disorder from their mothers because their fathers can only pass on the Y chromosome. Males either have it or they don't. They are never carriers. Daughters can get this disorder from both parents because both parents give off the X chromosome. Females can either be carriers or have it show as their phenotype.
Reply:i'm thinking it's b
Reply:B !!!!!!!!!! it's a sex-linked genetic disorder because men are more likely to get this disease.
Reply:it's a frame-shift by an extra nucleotide which screws up protein expression for blood-clotting proteins

not sure which that fits in
Reply:isnt it like a blood problem like the platelets dont bond or something
Reply:Hemophilia is a sex-linked genetic disorder.

The locus of the gene is on the X chromosome, therefore women can be carriers without being affected (i.e., females have two X chromosomes.) However, if a male 'inherits' an X chromosome (from the maternal side), there is no backup chromosome to cover up the recessive trait (i.e., males have only one X chromosome: XY).
Reply:B
Reply:(a) an abnormal inheritence pattern

occurs when the body lacks one of several blood clotting proteins. Queen Victoria had this.
