Mendels laws include the laws of dominance, segregation and independent assortment.
He didn't know about the molecular structure of chromosomes, chiasmata and crossing over.

Mendel figured the whole allele separation thing before we knew what meiosis was. When we learned about meiosis, it strengthened the argument for Mendel's principles.
