Im taking my biology regents wed. %26amp; dont have an answer key for some of my review questions. Please answer any that you know, but dont guess.

Using the results of his experiments with pea plant crosses, Gregor Mendel discovered

1 the principles of dominance, segregation, and independent assortment

2 that pea plants develop mutations after exposure to radiation

3 intermediate inheritance and gene linkage

4 that DNA is involved in the inheritance of dominant traits

NEXT QUESTION

Genes involved in the production of abnormal red blood cells have an abnormal sequence of

1 ATP molecules

2 amino acids

3 sugars

4 bases

NEXT QUESTION

What determines the kind of genes an organism possesses?

1 type of amino acids in the cells of the organism

2 sequence of the subnuits A, T, C, and G in the DNA of the organism

3 size of simple sugar molecues in the organs of the organism

4 shape of the protein molecules in the organelles of the organism

Thanks and if you can please breifly explain your choice

Biology Regents Review Questions 10pts to correct answer?
1st is 1

2nd is 4

3rd is 2

How could Mendel learn anything except #1. He was a monk studying plants. He never heard of DNA, etc.

The bases are nucleotide bases that form part of the DNA molecule. Wouldn't be ATP energy molecules, you are talking of DNA molecules, nor a.a. found only in proteins that combine based on the instructions in the DNA chain. Nor sugars.

A.A. is simply for proteins, not DNA. DNA is composed of the 4 nucleic acids,. A,T,C, and G (and uracil is in RNA, but that is another story, we are dealing with DNA here).

This is pretty simple, even if I haven't explained too well. I'm a tad rusty, but not so rusty that I don't know the right answers.
